MG Broadcaster

Redesigning the flagship live streaming platform powering Aylo’s product ecosystem

Disclaimer: Due to non-disclosure agreements with Mindgeek, I am limited in the amount of work I can show.

MG Broadcaster is the core streaming infrastructure powering live broadcasts across Aylo’s platform ecosystem. It serves as the primary interface for both content creators and viewers, supporting real-time interaction, monetization, and content delivery at scale.

As Product Designer and UI/UX Lead, I was responsible for defining the UX architecture and leading the complete redesign of the platform. The goal was to modernize the experience, improve usability, and ensure the system could scale with growing product and user demands.

This involved analyzing existing workflows, identifying usability bottlenecks, and redesigning core interaction models across desktop and mobile. The new system improves clarity, reduces cognitive load, and provides a more scalable foundation for future platform growth. This project required defining new interaction patterns, establishing scalable design foundations, and aligning UX decisions with long-term platform strategy.

Role & Responsibilities

Product Designer & UI/UX Lead

  • Led end-to-end UX redesign of the MG Broadcaster platform

  • Defined UX architecture and interaction models

  • Conducted product and competitor analysis

  • Designed scalable UI systems across desktop and mobile

  • Collaborated closely with product managers and engineers

The Problem

The existing broadcaster interface had evolved incrementally over time, resulting in:

  • Fragmented interaction patterns

  • Poor information hierarchy

  • Inconsistent UI components

  • Limited scalability for new features

This created friction for both streamers and viewers, and constrained product growth.

The Outcome

The redesigned platform establishes a scalable foundation for future product growth while significantly improving usability for both streamers and viewers.

  • Clearer interaction flows

  • Improved usability for both streamers and viewers

  • Scalable design system foundation

  • Modernized interface aligned with current platform standards

The new architecture supports future feature expansion while significantly improving the overall user experience.

Key Improvements

  • New User UI: Dark, cinematic, and less intrusive UI places emphasis on stream content on the user side.

  • New Streamer UI: New UI gives the amateur better information about what’s going on in her stream.

  • Larger Video Feed: Increased screen real-estate: Bigger 16:9 video stream which takes full advantage of available screen space.

  • Responsive Design: Better device compatibility and mobile-friendly UI.

  • New Emoji selector: Old MDH forum-style emojis in chat have been replaced with Unicode standard emojis.

  • Gift and Tip service: Viewers can send Gifts and Tips in real-time while watching the streams.

  • Activity Feed: Gives streamers at-a-glance information about their stream and important events like tips, private requests, and more.

  • Invite to Private (Streamer to User): Allows streamers to invite users to private sessions.

  • Whisper mode: Allow streamers and users to send private messages in chat as whispers.
